In 2018, my oldest friend Davy Zyw was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, an incurable degenerative illness which strips you of the nerve cells that control your motor function. 50% of people with MND die within two years of diagnosis. Last summer, alongside his brothers and a few close friends, he set out to cycle the 260-mile route along five of the UK’s highest roads, all in one ride.
Alongside the creative team at Rapha I made a short film about Davy and the team's journey. The ride in total took 30 hours.
The film can be watched here - http://robbie-lawrence.com/project/davy/
The profits from this print sale will be donated to Ride for MND - you can learn more about Davy's story here - https://www.rideformnd.uk/our-mission
Alongside the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation - Ride for MND has two aims: firstly, to raise funds for research into the causes of MND and investigate potential cures, and, secondly, to make grants to sufferers of MND and enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.
